Traditional Short-Bore MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is one of the safest, most comfortable imaging techniques available. It combines a powerful magnet with an advanced computer system and radio waves to produce accurate, detailed pictures of organs and tissues in order to diagnose a variety of medical conditions.

Babak Imaging Center offers high-field MRI exams. With a magnetic field strength of 1.0-1.5 Tesla, high-field MRI produces the highest quality image in the shortest time, allowing for the most accurate diagnosis to be made. Because of its superior quality, high-field MRI should be the first choice whenever possible.

An ideal combination of both high quality imaging and patient comfort is the new short bore MRI. Available at 1.0 and 1.5 tesla, this system produces the highest quality images in very short periods of time.

Preparation/Restrictions
An MRI requires preparation only if the patient is having IV sedation, in which case he/she may be asked not to eat or drink for several hours prior to the exam. Our staff will provide specific instructions at the time of scheduling. Patients will change into surgical scrubs for the exam. They also will be asked to remove any metallic objects, such as jewelry, watches, eye make-up and hair clips. Patients should inform the technologist of prior surgeries or metal implants, such as pacemakers or aneurysm clips.

Side Effects
No known side effects are associated with MRI examinations.
