MRI -
Pediatric Information

An MRI produces images using magnetic waves instead of radiation.

The technologist will place your child on a sliding table and make sure they are positioned comfortably for the MRI examination.
The sliding table will be moved into a tube, which is open on each end.
You may remain in the room with your child.

Your child will be able to communicate with the technologist at any time using an intercom.
We will use ear plugs to quiet the knocking noise during the exam.

Your child will be asked not to move during the actual imaging process, but between sequences some movement is allowed.

Patients are generally required to remain still for only a few seconds to a few minutes at a time. The machine will make a knocking sound while it is collecting data for the images - during this time it is very important that your child remain still.
